Summer Road Work to Affect Campus Entry Points

Beginning Monday, June 2, the intersection of Lafayette and Dunklin Streets will be closed for improvement as a precursor to the planned Highway 50 Interchange project to begin this fall. Sewer replacement work will require the closure of Lafayette Street from the Dunklin intersection to south of Jason Hall (near the Physical Plant), which will make the entrance of Dawson Drive unavailable.  Both areas will remain closed through August.

As part of the planned detours Chestnut Street will be two-way between Atchison and Dunklin Streets (in front of Scruggs University Center).  Pedestrians and motorists should be aware of increased traffic and use extreme caution when traveling on this main campus thoroughfare.

·                  Travelers on Stadium will be directed from the roundabout to Leslie Boulevard and north (left) on Chestnut.

·                  Those traveling east on Dunklin will be directed north (left) on Jackson to McCarty Street and south (right) on Chestnut Street.

·                  Those traveling west on Dunklin will be directed south (left) on Chestnut Street.

·                  Drivers should use Taylor Drive (in front of Perry Hall) for access to Dickinson Drive or the eastern portion of Dawson Drive.

Your patience and caution during the work time is greatly appreciated as the City of Jefferson and Missouri Department of Transportation work to improve the roadways around Lincoln University and the community.
