The Lincoln University is committed to maintain and constantly improve laboratory safety here on campus. We encourage faculty and researchers to take all reasonable precautions to protect the health and safety of everyone — staff, students, visitors and the general public. In other words, we want to keep you and those around you safe.
Laboratory operations can be dangerous whether you are working with hazardous materials or equipment or just performing common laboratory procedures. Every day there are incidents in teaching and research laboratories on university campuses across the U.S. Although many accidents are minor, there are also serious cases, including fatalities. All faculty, staff and lab personnel have responsibilities to ensure a safe environment for academic research and classroom work.
EHS's goal is to minimize the risk of injury or illness to laboratory workers by ensuring that they have the training, information, and support needed to work safely in the laboratory. The Hazardous Materials Compliance Office will serves as the Chemical Hygiene Officer for the University. EHS will maintain Lincoln University's Chemical Hygiene Plan
EHS will assist in achiving the goal of a safe environment at Lincoln University by providing:
