As a historically black institution, Lincoln continues to give particular attention to African-American students from both within and outside Missouri. In addition, the University provides opportunities for non-traditional students to participate in educational activities held at on- and off-campus sites.

Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) is a college-based, officer commissioning program. It is designed as a college elective that focuses on leadership development, problem solving, strategic planning and professional ethics.
